The price is about 2 billions dollars, it seems that the purchase has been done by a group of private investor of which for now has not been revealed the identity.

The author of this trojan made available the source code and some video tutorial to learn to use its creation, they are available on his blog.

Skype™ launch its beta version of SIP (Session Initiation Protocol), to allow companies and offices that own a PBX, a telephone exchange like Asterisk, to use the cheap rates of Skype™ to call telephones all over the world, obviously the Skype-To-Skype calls, by the SIP protocol, are free.
In a near future it will be possible to knock down almost completely the costs of normal phone calls, when most companies, offices and business activity will be equipped with easy and practical systems of voice communication by Internet, without the need to use a phone provider, if not for the broadband connection.
A defect is that the dispatch of normal fax is not still supported by the SIP protocol and it still need the use of a normale telephone line, even if soon, supposedly, the fax will be substituted by the Certified E-mail.

Starting from 31st of march, it will be no more available the Go!Messenger service over the PSP; the cause?

"Although it proved a popular concept, achieving a significant number of registrations, it didn't gain the number of regular users that British Telecom and Sony Computer Entertainment Europe were aiming for."

Currently it seems that there isn't an alternative software to Go!Messenger, we wait for possible future progresses.

I found them almost perchance, VoipStunt, VoipWise, InternetCalls...
VoipRaider's features are nearly identical to the ones of VoipWise, different graphical interface as like the different official website but the network and the functionality are equal to the ones of its clone softwares.

Born a "new" software for VoIP calls and free SMS sending very but very similar to the other ones I spoke about in an old little article.
Reading from the official site it seems that there's the way to make free calls over landline phones in the enabled countries:

Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Chile, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Singapore, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, United Kingdom, United States (mobile phone included).

The sending of free SMS is limited, as calls over landline phones, it's not understandable in what manner it is, but... better that nothing.
VoipWise is freely distributed and it is translated in many languages, after the short installation it is necessary to sign up with classic username and password, the registration process is quite immediate and easy to do, after that it will be possible begin to use VoipWise, between the features it's present the Phone2Phone function, simply inserting your own telephone number and the one you wish to call, it will be estabilished a direct call between the two phones, without computer aid.

Skype™ 4 Beta

Starting from the last 18th of June it's available the version 4 beta (4.0.0.145) of the famous software Skype™. The new version apperars completely rebuild in the "interface", more extended among the previous versions, personal photo or avatar increased in size, video quality (for videocalls) improved, it seems also that as been implemented a fix to get better on compatibility with Skype Certified hardware like headphones and USB microphones, webcams... to facilitate the auto identification without changing every time Skype™ video and audio settings.

About a years ago and more I wrote this little article regarding a software that improve the audio quality of calls with almost all softwares that implement this function.
In these days it has been released the 1.4.1 version, i didn't find out any document or changelog that describe the changes and improvements produced, but if you're using SoliCall, an upgrade is advised, the download page show many link to download the software, use just the first or second one because the other ones still have an old version.
It is recommended to uninstall the previous version before installing this last one.

A short time ago Skype™ introduced three typology of monthly subscriptions to make almost unlimited calls (10.000 minutes/month - about 166 hours) over landline phones.
The first subscription typology that I read on the Skype™ website is called "Unlimited Country" and allow to call "without limits" one preferred Country between the ones indicated and enabled at the cost of 4,95 USD/month.
The second one is called "Unlimited Europe", like name says, it allow to make "unlimited" calls to 20 european Countries at the cost of 5,95 USD/month (supported Countries are specified on the subscription page).
The third and last subscription is "Unlimited World" and for just 12,95 USD/month allow to make calls over landline phones of 34 Countries, for some of them, like U.S.A and Cina, cell phones calls are included and supported.
In all the three subscription are included a Skype-In number and the VoiceMail (Skype answering machine).
For those that don't need particular subscriptions there's always the "old" Skype credit recharge.

Kraun presents a curious "gadget": an USB optical mouse that integrate a USB VoIP Phone (there's an integrated USB audio card) compatible with Skype™, Windows Live Messenger and Yahoo Messenger.
The OS compatibility is with Windows 2000 and Windows XP, there's no info concerning Windows Vista but supposedly it is compatible; the mouse-phone integrate the classic scrolling wheel that act also for volume call setting.
Some doubts about the functionality, it's almost difficult speak with the mouse receiver in front of a PC and at the same time interact with the operating system.

A Skype™ Trojan InfoStealer

Since some days ago on the Internet there's a news regarding a trojan for Skype™, this malicious software is defined also as a Trojan InfoStealer, the file name should be "65404-SkypeDefenderSetup.exe" and it is delivered by E-Mail or instant messaging softwares, at the first look it seems a normal Skype™ plugin but once executed it shows an access window with username and password like the Skype™ one, all the expert pc users will immediately notice that it isn't the true Skype™ login screen but a fake.
The dirty work of this trojan is, by the news I read on the net, to "steal" the passwords stored by Internet Explorer and also the user data of your Skype™ account and then send everything on a Russian server.

After some time of beta testing it's finally available since yesterday 7th of August a new version of Skype™, the 3.5.0.202 introduce in fact some new features in addition to some bugfix, like the possibility to send instant video to the user we are talking with.

I cannot resist to write this little article into my blog, even if it's not related with VoIP technology, but the "sensational" discover of mister Pesci Slavisa catch a lot my attention, leaving out that I personally know this person, I'm immensely wondered about this sneaky manner of making self advertising.
Leonardo Da Vinci's Last Supper it's a great paint, well known all over the world and "magnified" by book, movies, documentaries, inevitable that it is taken of sight and into it are find out hidden meanings and symbols, at the end it's just a simply paint and, as it is, it should be admired and nothing else.
The symmetry of two reflected pictures superimposed plays a lot of jokes to our sight, just try with every paint, photo, illustration to obtain other symmetrical pictures where, with the collaboration of our imagination, we can figure various shapes and figures combinable to everything; we can see a bit of examples into this website; the freak is defined pareidolia.
If in the month of August you have nothing to do and you don't go holiday just enjoy yourself by overturn paintings (not in the literal mean of the word!) and search for "hidden meanings" and maybe you will be the main hero of the next TV movie X-Files.

It's come back the Chocophone's VoIP, by Abbeynet, a company located in Cagliari (Sardinia - Italy) founded in the year 2000 that operate in VoIP communication technology and inherent.
The new software for the VoIP communication is freely downloadable and once installed it integrate itself in the Windows Taskbar and allow us to make and receive normal calls from PC to PC, VoIP calls and also videocalls, it's included also SMS sending.
The fees for making calls over normal phones are very equal to the one's that Skype™ apply.
Abbeynet offers also Hictu and Instantalk; Hictu is just a public web space where we can share informations and other things, a sort of personal blog, while Instantalk it's a plugin for Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox and Office to make an instant call by selecting the phone number showed in a web page or a document.

Out from yesterday 4th of July 2007 a new version of Skype™, the 3.2.0.175, contemporaneous it is available also the beta version 3.5.0.158.
Between the changes we can find a slight improvement of the call's audio quality, a better installer compatibility under Windows Vista and the Internet Explorer plugin upgrade.
The beta version is to use with caution, in fact it's not a final version and it could result unstable.
On the main page of the Skype™ website there are the direct links for downloading the last version 3.2.0.175 and the beta version 3.5.0.158.

VoipStunt 4

It's available on the website www.voipstunt.com the download of version 4 of the famous VoIP software, VoipStunt.
I didn't find any changelog to find out bugfixes and possible new features, but after I installed it I noticed a new form that allow calls from phone to phone, like the way JaJah do, simply typing the sender's phone number and the consignee's phone number, always free calls in the countries specified on the VoipStunt website, and a new form for sending SMS.
I tried to send a few SMS and indeed they are been delivered immediately, but the maximum SMS allowed was five SMS, better than nothing seeing that they're free!

12voip is a new VoIP free client to chat, voice communication and, as VoipStunt and clones, it offers free calls over landline phones and mobile phones in many countries, including the U.S..
This software is very similar to the ones mentioned before, in fact it's sufficient to read the little article i wrote in March 2006 to understand that it's the umpteenth clone, very similar in the user interface, menus, registration procedure and in the functionality. Not bad because we have the possibility to make free calls in the U.S. and many countries, it remains to test if the free calls have a time or number limits.

Out today a new version of Skype™, some fixed bug like an installation error that involved many users of the previous versions, the famous error 1603, that made unable the complete installation of the 3.2 version and eliminate the previous version, without upgrading nothing.
Error reported from many users also on the Skype Forum at this address. The solutions proposed on the forum did not work for everyone, fortunately the install procedure of this version should work perfectly.

British Telecom and Sony Computer Entertainment reached an agreement in which the famous console PSP (PlayStation Portable) may be used like a VoIP "phone", by the Go!Cam, a PSP gadget made by Sony, that integrate a WebCam and a microphone.
The VoIP communication by the PSP happens by way of Wi-Fi hotspots property of British Telecom, the service is available for the moment just for the Great Britain.

Recently D-Link introduced on the market an interesting product, a Wi-Fi router with integrated VoIP functionality by the famous software Asterisk®, a software developed for VoIP communication and all inherent technologies; the name of this curious device is HorstBox DVA-G3342SB.
It seems strange but this product at the moment is available only in Germany, in fact if you want to read the features and other infos you can do it by surfing on the official page of the product (german language!) or by searching it on the official German website www.d-link.de.
HorstBox is fully ADSL/ADSL2+ compatible and integrate 1 USB 2.0 port, 2 ISDN ports, 3 analog ports, 4 RJ-45 10/100 Mbit ports, the wireless feature is supported by IEEE 802.11g standard and IEEE 802.11b fully compatible.
A little goody for programmers, it seems that D-Link releases freely and officially the source code of the HorstBox, in order that everyone who is experienced in this "hacking" could change and personalize as he/she want the router functionality.

Its name is Fring, it's a software still in beta test, to allow owners of phones with Symbian operating system (Nokia at first) with GPRS or Wi-Fi Internet connection to make phone calls by the phone.
The cost is just the one of the GPRS connection or similar of your phone company; So it is possible to call Skype™ users and Google Talk users just paying your cellphone's internet connection and use SkypeOut credit to call regular phones.
If you want to try this software just surf to http://www.fring.com/ or directly to the download page http://www.fring.com/download/, fill the registration module with the requested data: cellphone brand and model, nationality, e-mail address, cellphone number on which Fring will be installed; almost instantly will be sent an SMS to your cellphone containing a link to download and install the software. This link must be "clicked" by the browser of your cellphone, Fring will be downloaded and installed like a normal Symbian application.
After Skype for Pocket PC and Skype for Windows Mobile will Skype release a version for Symbian Phones? Cellphones with this operating system are largely diffused...

It seems that the big colossus Skype™ (an eBay property) will introduce an annual fee rate of 30 dollars to permit to make calls over landlines phones and cellphones without limits.
For now the offer is limited to United States and Canada and it will start from January 2007, let's hope that this offer will be extended also for Europe and other Countries. Surely the various phone companies will have something to speak about... or they will counterattack offering something similar.
I have to say that 30 dollars is the "tax" that italians pay every two months to italian Telecom just for having the phone line!

Windows Vista VoIP?

At the beginning of the next year (someone said 30th January 2007) it will be released the new OS by mother Microsoft®, Windows Vista, also it will be released the new version of the Office Suite, called 2007.
It seems that in Windows Vista there will be an integrated VoIP system that provides also videocalls, but there's no informations yet if this "integration" will be part of the existing Windows Live Messenger that previously and since it was knew by the name of MSN Messenger, it was able to communicate with keyboard, voice and video.
We will consider, when Windows Vista will be out, which will be the best offer costs/performance/quality, with the famous and most used software Skype™ and other softwares and VoIP providers.

It works in the same style like its three brothers, the graphic interface change a few. The italian translation that i wrote for VoipStunt it's well integrated with all the four software.

VoipBuster, VoipStunt, InternetCalls: The Attack Of The Clones?

Three brother's softwares, very very similar in the interface and functionality, these softwares allow us to call for free landlines phones in many countries, without time limit, but i red some articles somewhere on the web that said that VoipStunt after a certain number of minutes of free calls (about 40) didn't allow to call the free destination countries and ask for a credit (like SkypeOut) to continue to make free calls over free destinations; it also could be a little bug in the software.
On the contrary, with InternetCalls there's no time limits or calls, will it be true? For settle things once and for all I installed all the three softwares, using them within the time I will find out if effectively will be possible to continue to make free calls without limits.
If it will be not... well, just sign in with a new account and take advantage of more free calls.
Anyhow the italian translation i made for VoipStunt works perfectly also with InternetCalls and VoipBuster.

I tried by best to traslate the VoipStunt software in my native language (Italian), waiting for a definitive multilanguage version.
To activate the italian language you have follow this simple steps:

Download this file (Italian.zip)

Extract it in the VoipStunt's installation folder (Example: C:\Program Files\VoipStunt.com\VoipStunt)

Run VoipStunt and from the 'Tools' menù click on 'Select Language' -> 'Load Custom Language File...'

Select then the file 'Italian.lang' previously extracted from the ZIP archive

The translation isn't complete and/or perfect, for example the button aren't translatable because they are in graphical format and there will be some bug for sure, if you find something wrong or you want to suggest me anything for a better translation you can mail me at: luke.net@gmail.com and suggest me the problem or the improvement you like.
